Stone cleaning is a fascinating process. Previously we have spoken about how preparation is key, and this is very much the case when cleaning stone floors. This can be broken down into two sections really. There is preparation needed prior to routine cleaning. And then there is the preparation needed prior to professional stone cleaning and restoration. This information concentrates more on the latter. Why?
Preparation for routine cleaning is simple. It starts with getting advice from us about which products would work best and which techniques. Furthermore, how frequently it should be done and then putting it into practice. The preparation in itself is collecting all necessary items together and making sure that you prioritise the cleaning of your stone floor. Understanding that routine care helps elongate the lifespan of any natural stone tiles.
Professional Stone Cleaning
Professional stone floor cleaning is a process that needs a number of steps. While these steps will follow a similar pattern, there may be variations which we will need to adapt for. This is where our experience and understanding of cleaning natural stone comes into play. We are able to draw on all of this in order to achieve the best possible results.
We will start by inspecting the tiles to find all possible problem areas. This will allow us to adapt our plan and tackle any specific areas. What might we be looking for? This may include stains, discolouration, dull areas, loose tiles, lippage, scratches or grout haze. Our restoration offers and incredible opportunity to reverse these problems and returns your floor to like-new.
Prior to any work starting, all surrounding areas of the space will be protected. All large items should be moved any remaining belongings ideally. If you have wall hangings and curtains, these should be covered in order to keep them clean. The tiles will then be thoroughly vacuumed, removing any debris.
These elements, although sound simple, are the start of the cleaning process. We will then progress to remove any previous seal products and surface issues. Some floors need stone grinding and others follow another process. If you would like to find out more about restoring stone floors, please call today on 0800 852 7177.
