The process of refinishing wood floors generally follows the same trends with each project we complete. The wonder of our experience is that if any anomalies appear, we are able to draw on that experience to provide a solution. A great example of this is any wood floor repairs that are required.
The Process of Refinishing Wood Floors
We will start by sweeping and clearing the wood floor of any debris. The individual boards are examined in order to identify any repairs that may be needed. How do we identify these? A board may need repairing or replacing if it is cracked, missing or damaged. Once again, our experience in the field will allow us to offer the best solution to you. This solution will be with the aim to offer a seamless and well-matched repair.
Different jobs require different levels of wood floor repairs. Heavy wear areas often are located in the entrance or threshold of an area or room. Some may need very little repairs, and others are quite extensive. We will always discuss the intended finish with our clients so that together we can make an informed choice. Having an open and transparent approach allows our clients confidence in their selection.
The entire floor is then sanded using different sanding machines in order to produce a smooth surface. Once all the floor sanding has been done, we fill any gaps with a mixture of the sawdust and wood filler. This makes sure that any of the final repairs are indistinguishable. Once the filler is dry, we will give the floor a final sand to clean filler residue from the surface ready for finishing.
