Wooden floors are softer underfoot than tiles and wear better than carpet. They are also really diverse in their appearance and offer great thermal properties for any home. You will often hear people say that wood is timeless and that appears to be the case in the high volume of floor sanding work that we complete.
We were asked to restore this beautiful oak floor in Leyland, Lancashire. Generally, the wood floor had been well cared for. However, it was showing signs of wear and tear and had really just lost its originally laid lustre.
This is often the case in kitchen areas due to a few reasons;
- Heavy foot traffic
- Heat variations
- Additional moisture
- Liquid and food spillages
Kitchens will often also have furniture that is moved around frequently. This can often result in scratches and dents to the floor. Even the most careful home owners report wear and tear. The entire floor was sanded, protecting all of the skirting and kitchen surfaces.
It was decided that the floor should go from its original, darkened look to a lighter and brighter appearance. A wood lacquer was selected. We discussed the advantages of this wood finish and its durability and additional protection really suited this floor’s setting.
The room was transformed from what was a dark space to that of a fresh and bright look. Our clients were extremely happy with the results.
